Haven Thorpe Park Holiday Park, Cleethorpes

Family-friendly Holiday Park on the Lincolnshire coast in Cleethorpes with entertainment, indoor & outdoor swimming pool and much, much more..

March 2023.

If you have stayed at a Haven Holiday Park before, you will know what to expect – plenty of activities to keep all of the family entertained throughout your entire stay! And Haven Thorpe Park is no different and has an entertainment venue, restaurant, bar, amusement arcades plus the new addition of the activity centre that includes bungee trampolines, high ropes course, crazy golf, fishing, and the list goes on…

We went on the second weekend of opening for the 2023 season, for a 3-night stay. This is the third time we have stayed here and we really like this park due to the on-site facilities and its location to the beachfront and the seaside town of Cleethorpes.

On the first day, we arrived quite late, so we relaxed at our caravan ready for the following day. We had a lovely peaceful night, even though the touring site was almost full. On our second day, we decided to get the bus into Cleethorpes (£8 for a family of 5) and had a walk along the seafront. With it being the very start of the season a lot of places weren’t open yet but in the height of the season you can expect to find amusement arcades, fish & chip shops, crazy golf, a small pier and a handful of fun fair rides (suitable for little ones). As it was quite quiet on the day we visited, we decided to take another bus to the next town along, Grimsby, where there is plenty of shops and eateries. It was St. Patricks day on the day we visited so town was quite busy and it had a nice atmosphere. Once we were all shopped and eaten out, we headed back to Haven Thorpe Park where we stopped at the entertainment venue for a game of bingo and to check out the entertainment. Bingo was fun, a little expensive (minimum £5 per person for 3 books or £10 for 6 books) which can add up when two or more adults want to play but the potential prize money was good if you won (sadly luck wasn’t on our side!). After bingo, the kids club started and then they had live entertainment, a singer, which was also very good.

We then headed back to our tourer. The touring site at Thorpe Park is across a little road to the main complex but only a 5-minute walk (maximum). The touring site has a shop and a play park central to most of the pitches. There are two toilet and shower blocks, showers are free of charge. The showers are a little tricky if you have children as they were very hot and very powerful (no option to adjust the settings).

On the third day of our stay, we opted to stay on-site and check-out the activities on offer. We pre-booked crazy golf, bungee trampolines, handball, football, wand making and kart hire. Our children really wanted to do the high ropes too but it was fully booked so pre-booking is a must, especially for this activity as it is so popular. Some of the activities are free, such as football, handball and water safety but most activities have charges that apply and this can get quite expensive, so something to consider. In the main activities area, there is an outdoor bar where you can grab a snack or a drink and there is easy access to the main restaurant too. We also decided to go swimming on this day, the pool has a fun pool and a pool for swimmers (although children do play in here too). There is a water bucket that tips every so often that our children loved and there was a dedicated area for really small ones with a mini slide. In the summer, they also have an outdoor pool with flumes that looks excellent however when we stay it is never open due to it being too cold.

One of the things we really like about Haven Thorpe Park is that they have special offers for more affordable dining out. As everyone knows, holiday parks are renowned for being quite expensive for food and drink so it was nice to see special offers that were reasonable. We had Sunday lunch on the day of our departure and it was two adult Sunday carveries for £15 and kids ate for £1 with every adult meal purchased (kids eat for £1 is valid every day, not just on a Sunday!). This offer made dining out reasonably priced compared to what you expect at a holiday park. The drinks on the other hand are quite expensive but again, it was to be expected.

All in all, we had another lovely stay at Haven Thorpe Park and we look forward to visiting again soon.
